If guests sit down to eat together, plan a chair for every guest — plus a few extras. For 100 guests, rent 100 chairs (we keep up to 100 on hand).

Open house / drop-in

When guests come and go over several hours, you rarely need a seat for everyone at once. A good starting point is seating for about half your peak attendance, paired with cocktail tables for standing guests.

• Always seat elderly guests and young families comfortably
• Cluster chairs in conversation groups, not just rows
• A few chairs near the food and gift tables are always used

When in doubt
